From the nerve-wracking moment I hit “send” on my first draft to my editor (Would she suggest a rewrite?), to the stress of finding the perfect illustrator to bring my characters to life (Do we share the same vision?), every step of this journey has been an exhilarating, and sometimes daunting, ride.
I remember how nervous I was when I first shared the story with family and friends. Reading it aloud for the first time brought up so many questions: Would they like it, or would there be tough feedback? Hearing their thoughts gave me new perspective, but it also reminded me of the vulnerability that comes with putting a piece of yourself out into the world.
And now, here I am at the marketing stage, where the next big question is, “How do I reach the readers who will love my book?” This part is both exciting and intimidating, but I know it’s all part of the process. The word that best describes my feelings throughout? Vulnerable.
But, as with any good rollercoaster, the highs and lows are all part of the thrill. My journey as an author has been filled with learning moments, challenges, and incredible support from people who believe in my vision. With every twist and turn, I’ve grown as a writer and a storyteller, and now I can finally see this project coming together.
I can’t express how grateful I am to everyone who has cheered me on, offered feedback, and helped me bring this story to life. From my editors to my illustrator, family to friends, and all the readers who are waiting for the final product—thank you!
I am beyond excited to see what comes next as my book makes its way into the world.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me! Stay tuned for updates, behind-the-scenes looks, and, of course, the release date of October 30th!
Warm Regards,
~Wendy
