Each year on April 22nd, people around the world pause to honor Earth Day—a time to celebrate our planet and reflect on the ways we can care for it. For children, Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity to introduce the idea that even small hands can make a big difference.
By planting their own seeds, children can watch something grow and experience a hands-on-way to feel connected to the earth. In Ivy Blue’s Greatest Pumpkin Playhouse, Ivy Blue’s journey with Autumn shows how nurturing something as simple as a seed (or a pumpkin!) can lead to unexpected magic, thus inspiring families to talk about how nature thrives when we give it a little extra love and attention.
Caring for nature also means keeping it clean. A nature walk becomes an Earth Day mission when you bring along gloves and a bag to pick up litter. Children love feeling like heroes—and helping their local parks, trails, or neighborhoods sparkle can give them a sense of pride and ownership in the world around them. They’ll see that their choices matter.
This Earth Day, I hope you will take the opportunity to slow down, explore the beauty of the world around us, and discover the many ways—big and small—we can nurture nature together.
Warm Regards,
~Wendy
